Shoot Analysis: Rejected Shots

The lighting in these shots wasn't good, and in the second shot Khadijah rolled over too fast and her face could hardly be seen so we rejected these. The lighting again was insufficient in the first shot and the camera was very out of focus and shaky. As for the second one we forgot to put a pen with the diary and since it was part of a match on action sequence we couldn't use it.

Shoot Analysis: Selected Shots

The following shots are part of one of the narrative, as well as performance, of our music video. We selected them because we found the lighting to be equally balanced and good. The lipsync was also done fairly well. As for the camera work, for the shots that were filmed without a tripod, these were among the more stable ones. The zoom-in is unconventional but is often seen in indie music videos which are similar to the vibe that our music video is meant to have so we decided to use it (experimentation paid off?). Most of the footage from the outdoor shots were selected because we didn't really have to worry about the camera movement too much. Even though some shots could've been better in terms of the actors' expression and body language, we felt that the ones which we had were decently done for students who weren't being paid. The night shots also came out pretty good and we will further edit them to add some grain and a more retro film effect. These scenes had no iss

Production Log: Day 2

Day 2 was very busy and eventful for us, because we did all the rest of our shoot on this day.  Lighting and Equipment We used natural and indoor light, as well as phone flashlights as an improvisation for some shots. We also used a tripod for steadier and still shots. Technical Stuff: The footage was shot using a Canon 5DS R, with a 24-70mm lens. I used a different lens than we did on day 1 (50mm) because, even though that one gave us great quality footage in low light, a 24 70 is just an all-rounder lens, and since we had more varied kinds of shots planned for day 2, it was a much better option. The videos have a dimension of 1920 x 1080 pixels and were shot in 24fps. Camera, Shots and Angles We used a variety of angles and shots throughout the shoot, Mainly mid shots and medium close ups because we wanted to emphasise on the artist/actor's expressions and body language which translated a major aspect of the narrative. The angles were mostly eye-level. Location 1: Bedroom We had

Production Log: (Officially) Day 1

After a little mishap with our chosen model, that set us wayyy behind schedule, we conducted our shoot a little later than planned, and since we were in a rush to meet our deadlines, we also had some issues in deciding a specific time when we were all free. And thus, I ended up at Tehreem's place (our shooting location for Day 1) at 9.30 am with my camera, flowers, vase, cards, a change of outfits for the model, capsules, and spray paints, and began making early arrangements and final checks - lighting, setting up props etc. We had some coloured pills, but we also spray painted some more while waiting for the model to arrive. The pills were a symbolic element in our music video which represented the character's state of mind and condition.                               Khadijah, our new model, arrived around 11.00 am and we began shooting. She had done her makeup from home because she was better at it than the three of us combined, so we just asked her to do minimal makeup whic
